Lead Assistant Superintendent   /   2015-Present

EXPERIENCES INCLUDE:

 

• Providing excellent course conditions on a daily basis

• Planning, scheduling and executing of daily and long term golf course projects with extreme
  attention to detail

• Leading bilingual staff of 30 with a positive attitude while demanding excellent work ethic

• Execution of Integrated Pest Management Plan including forecasting, scheduling and application
  of pesticides, fertilizers and wetting agents

• Stringent water management of Bentgrass putting greens with native soil and XGD drainage to
  provide consistently firm putting surfaces

• Expert knowledge in new turf technologies including, but not limited to: EZ Pin Locator, Playbooks

  Record Management, TRIMS, Task Tracker and Weevil Trak

• Daily communication with Pro Shop staff and Membership on course conditions and any special
  projects on the course or practice facilities

• Planning and implementation of $250,000 regrassing of fairway surrounds to Turf Type Tall
  Fescue

• Planning implementation of XGD drainage in all approaches

• Continuous rough and fescue renovation through herbicide applications, aerification, fertilizer
  and overseeding

• Landscape planning throughout entire Course, Clubhouse, Tennis Center, Pool Area and
  Trap Lodge

 

COURSE PROJECTS:

• XGD drainage in all approaches

• Regrassing of all fairway and green surrounds to turf type tall fescue

• Regrassing of driving range tee to Bermuda grass, followed by overseeding back to ryegrass

• Construction of vegetable garden for use by club’s kitchen staff

• DryJect aerification on all putting surfaces

• Core aerification and topdressing of all playing surfaces

MANASQUAN RIVER GOLF CLUB  /  BRIELLE, NJ

First Assistant Superintendent  /  2012-2014

18-hole private club designed by Robert White and opened in 1926. A distinct, classic course located in the highly-regarded and demanding NY Met section for golf.

EXPERIENCES INCLUDED:

• Implemented use of smart board technology for daily assignment delegation and video instruction
  for staff

• Created yearlong daily maintenance calendar for easily accessible information such as,
  pesticide/fertilizer applications, daily mowing directions, projects, rainfall amounts and other
  pertinent information

• Managed bilingual staff demanding championship quality conditions on a daily basis

• Developed interpersonal relationships with other departments and membership

• Helped Caddie Master to develop the skills of young caddies by going out and playing golf while  
  teaching them proper techniques

• Played with membership to hear feedback and see things from their perspective

• Mentored assistant-in-training and student interns in the intricacies of what it means to be a
  golf course superintendent, both on and off the course

• Attended staff meetings on behalf of our department and sat in on greens committee meetings

• Attended seminars and volunteered at tournaments to learn from and network with peers and
  some of the best turf professionals in the industry

• Trained new employees on safety and operation of various equipment

• Taught seasonal and fulltime employees the importance of striving to maintain the highest
  standard of product on a daily basis

• Hosted successful 2012 NJ State Open Championship with final score above par

• Supervised and executed all pesticide application records and chemical room upkeep, along
  with monitoring the responsible and safe application of pesticides and fertilizers

• Worked alongside full time mechanic to learn more about general equipment maintenance

• Scheduled and executed aerification of all playing surfaces along with drill and fill on greens

• Identified and implemented high quality Integrated Pest Management System

 

COURSE PROJECTS:

• Construction of new bunker and fescue areas with drainage installation

• Expansion of four putting greens and resodding of green surrounds

OLD YORK ROAD COUNTRY CLUB  /  SPRINGHOUSE, PA

Assistant-in-Training  /   2010-2011

At Old York Road Country Club I improved my operational skills while learning to efficiently accomplish tasks. I gained experience managing small groups through leading by example. I learned the agronomic side of the industry with a hands-on, positive attitude on a daily basis.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDED:

• Liquid and granular chemical and fertilizer applications

• Irrigation troubleshooting

• Operation of all mowing equipment

• Tree and snow removal

• Greens, tees, and fairways aerification

SAUCON VALLEY COUNTRY CLUB  /  BETHLEHEM, PA

Summer Intern  /  2008-2009

Saucon Valley Country Club taught me the value of hard work and determination. I was fortunate enough to be mentored by many great superintendents and assistant superintendents. The program challenged me to compete with my peers while also cooperatively produce extremely high-level daily conditions.

• Daily tee/greens mowing with walk behind mower

• Hand watering

• Course set up

• Assistance in chemical and fertilizer applications

• Seeding and sodding
